What a lovely view from, Heaven looks at you from, the Brooklyn bridge

available in french

 hello everyone !

so, last time i went to New York (to see Once), i made a promise to myself that next time i wouldn't go to Broadway, but to explore the city a little
can you guess where it went for this fabulous photoshop montage made by yours truly ?
that's right : Brooklyn !

truth is, when one thinks of New York, one automatically thinks "manhattan", but the other four boroughs shouldn't be overlooked...
so i took the New Jersey transit, arrived in Penn Station in the heart of Manhattan, and took the New York subway for the first time...
...which is not an easy thing to do ! all lines go either uptown or downtown, some are locals, other express, and each quay is used for different lines with a screen telling where is the next train coming.
you kinda have to speak the lingo. otherwise you read this : "2 upt loc" or this : "3 dow exp"
and you don't understand where you're supposed to go...

it's a bit confusing the first time and the people working here are not really willing to help you out.
but, since i'm rather ressourceful, i managed to get into the line 2 downtown express and to get exactly where i wanted. oh yeah

so wandered around in the south-ouest of Brooklyn (this borough is huge : 2.5 millions inhabitants !), and it was cool

then i walked to the "shore" with manhattan on the other side of the bank, and the two bridges : Manhattan Bridge, and the famous Brooklyn Bridge

Brooklyn Bridge on your left hand side, and on the right hand side, Manhattan Bridge
the neighbourhood located under the Manhattan Bridge is recently gentrified, with lots of cute little restaurants and art galleries, etc... in French, we'd say this place is BoBo (bourgeois bohème : hippie chic)
this neighbourhood is now nicknamed Dumbo (Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass), which is a sign of it's gentrification, just like (Triangle Below Canal Street).

imaginary neighbourhood of "Dowisetrepla" without knowing that it stands for "DOwnWInd of the SEwage TREatment PLAnt" ?)

so i walked around Dumbo before heading to the pier, admiring the view on the bridge and manhattan across the sea

and right under Manhattan Bridge, there was a cute little foodcourt with fancy foodstands, selling like dumplings and cupcakes, and food on spikes, loads of ethnic food, etc.

so i had my first corndog...

...and an ice-cream sandwicht to wash it down !

good thing that i had walked a lot that day !! but the day wasn't over, oh no ! the highlight of the day was still yet to come : the crossing of the Brooklyn Bridge !

and since i was back in Manhattan and that i wanted night pictures, i crossed it again !! (it's only 2kms long, it's fine)

i swear i didn't photoshop anything

then i walked to the World Trade Center memorial, but it's closed at night so i'm going to have to come back another day
if you look at my pictures though, you can see a tall tower shining in white, it's the One Trade Center,  standing at Ground Zero in place of the late Twin Towers, and it's the tallest tower in the US. the memorial is located at its feet.

and to conclude this article, i say we listen to
Frank Sinatra singing about Brooklyn Bridge [x]
